Micardis is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Micardis keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Take this medication with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. To be sure this medication is helping your condition, your blood pressure will need to be checked on a regular basis. Before taking Micardis, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs:
* a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin); digoxin (digitalis, Lanoxin); any other blood pressure medications; or a diuretic (water pill) such as amiloride (Midamor), spironolactone (Aldactone), or triamterene (Dyrenium, Maxzide, Dyazide).
